The Goethe-Institut in Krakow has a prime location, right on the Main Square. It is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. It promotes knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation as well as provide  information on Germany's cultural, social and political life. Its library offers a wide range of books, videos, audio-cassettes, newspapers and magazines. The institute organises a broad variety of events to present German culture.
