16 October marks the 30th anniversary of John Paul II's election to the papacy. Krakow will celebrate the anniversary with the church bells ringing (5 pm) and a holy mass at 5 pm in the cathedral at the Wawel Hill.

At 7.30 pm Cracovians will gather at „the Pope's Window” at 3 Franciszkanska Street on a prayful watch. The event will be transmitted by TV.

There are also exhibitions devoted to Pope John Paul II. The Wielopolskich Palace at 3-4 Wszystkich Swietych Sq. houses a photo exhibition from the latest film about Pope John Paul II „Testimony” based on a book by Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz.

Also the Historical Museum in Krzysztofory Palace (at 35 Main Square) and the Archdiocese Museum (at Kanonicza 19-21) host an exhibition „The way to Vatican. The 30th anniversary of John Paul II's election to the papacy”.

The Gallery of John Paul II at Kanonicza 18 presents an exhibiotion „John Paul II – our memories”.
