The Krakow Aviation Museum took over a few buildings and part of the grounds of the Rakowice-Czyzny airfield, one of the oldest military airfields in Europe. Formed at Czyzny in 1964, the museum preserves and exhibits aircraft, engines and other items of importance to the world's aviation heritage and these form a premier European collection. In the museum's collection there are more than one hundred aircraft, including gliders, helicopters and anti-aircraft missiles, and also some two hundred aero engines.

Super selection of Cold War Aviation Heritage. Urgent action needed before many of the airframes succomb to the tender ministrations
of the climate and pigeons. While appreciating that finance is always a problem in the maintainance of museums, urgent action is required at this very important venue.
