For over 8 months since the Krakow - Balice airport rail link was innaugurated (May 2006), more than 250,000 passengers travelled on this route. On the route of the "Papal train", from Karków to John Paul II home town of Wadowice, 82,000 pilgrims travelled since May 2006.
250,000 passengers travelled on the route Kraków - Balice airport. The airport served 2.4m passengers in 2006, 1.75m since the rail line was established. It means, that approimately 15% of the airport's passengers decided to use the rail link.
In Europe usually no more than 20% of the airports' passengers use public transport to get to the cities - says, Jan Friedberg of Ernst &Young - the rest preferes taxi or their own cars. There is still lots to do for the railway, as the a major part of the passengers of the public transportation preferes to take a bus.
