The Divine Comedy International Festival is the first large-format theatrical event in Kraków! It is a unique opportunity to look at theatrical art from outside the European perspective, to see a world unknown, ‘exotic’, culturally different. Hosted will be artists from the entire globe, for is it not the case today that the axis mundi has shifted from Europe to other regions of the world? Should we not invite to our debate on the contemporary condition of humanity those who normally have been excluded from it on account of different roots?’ said Bartosz Szydłowski, the festival’s artistic director. During the first edition of the festival, artists from India, South Africa, Iran and Colombia came to Kraków.
Poles fight for the Divine Comedian statuette and for the City of Kraków Mayor’s Prize. On the stages of the Słowacki, Stary, Bagatela, Ludowy and Nowa Łaźnia Theaters, the best shows of the 2008/2009 season will be presented. (bf)
