‘The sense of the festival will be fulfilled,’ considers organizational director Pawe³ Orski, ‘if a foreign artist prepares an entire Polish program, presents it in Kraków, and then adds it on a permanent basis to his or her repertoire.’ The creator of this idea is program director Andrzej Kosowski. In this way, Polish music continues to be present in a vigorous manner not only in Europe, but all over the world.

The over a dozen festival concerts will be comprised of both new compositions honored at the Tadeusz Ochlewski Composer’s Competition, and recognizable titles which are entering the world music canon. At the festival, such works as the following have had their premières: Wojciech Kilar’s Te Deum for solo voices, choir and orchestra, as well as Jerzy Maksymiuk’s Norwidiana for two sopranos, mezzo-soprano and orchestra.
