Rozstaje Festival presents the diverse traditional music of the region and at the same time common features of the folk culture of the Carpathians. The performers act as the representatives of their ancestors who made up the many peoples and ethnic groups—including the Poles, Slovaks, Hungarians, Romanians, Ukrainians, Lemky, Boiky, Gypsies and Jews. What’s typical, is that on the most of this mountainous terrain the old custom of multi-generation family music-making has been preserved, and the traditions have undergone mutual influences. The music that has emerged from it and its inner force caused in the recent years a certain fashion for “góralski folk” (mountainous folk).
