The harvest festival was an ethnic tradition of the Slav and Baltic tribes. The custom was probably initially connected with worshipping plants and trees, later with the beginnings of farming. The festival was traditionally held on the first day of autumn.
The Krakow holiday of crops, dedicated to this year's harvest, has been scheduled for a little earlier. This time the festivities will take place in Łuczanowice, commencing with a traditional parade and an open-air mass. On the football pitch of KS „Iskra” Luczanowice, a contest for the best wreath will be held.
The artistic part of the event will include contests, a performance by the „Ziemia Myslenicka” Song and Dance Group, as well as concerts by bands from Nowa Huta. Trebunie-Tutki will be the stars of the evening (6pm). The band has recently released its latest record entitled „Piesni Chwaly” (Songs of Glory). This most recent project is a result of combining their artistic forces with Twinkle Brothers from Jamaica. Judging by the success of their first joint record (16 years ago), the album with the mixture of energizing Caribbean rhythms and vigorous Highlander notes is set to become a success on the market.
The event will finish with a dance party with the Format Group (until midnight).
