Wianki at the Vistula embankment
|

|
When:
2008-06-21
The shortest night of the year will probably be remembered for a long time by the participants of this year’s “Wianki”, a traditional Polish midsummer night festival. At sundown, the sky over the Vistula River will be illuminated by a very bright star – the British group Jamiroquai. The band, performing on stage for over 15 years, has been one of the most important contemporary pop music artists. Their music, bordering on pop, funk and acid jazz is still widely popular, which is reflected in, among others, the number of sold records (more than 20 million copies).
The audience gathered on the Vistula embankments will be able to feel the atmosphere of the midsummer night thanks to Polish performers: Novika, Bisquit and Andrzej Smolik. The latter is the producer of records of such stars as Krzysztof Krawczyk, Robert Gawlinski or Ania Dabrowska. One thing must be said about his work and stage image – they never lack elegance. Kasia Nowicka, better known by her stage name – Novika, is a real diva of Polish club music. Her music is filled with subtle electronic sounds. Bisquit, in turn, focuses mostly on ethereal jazz sounds and the warm voice of its vocalist – Joanna Wlodarska.
The list of performers is supplemented by bands with an equally sensual message: Mosquitoo, Loco Star and June. The event, organised by the Krakow Festival Office will culminate in a breath-taking firework show. Wawel Hill will undoubtedly witness a magical evening.
